Inspired by the Roloffs

My sick days off from work while recuperating from an infection in my uterus, gave me the opportunity to discover the Roloffs.  Now are you ready to meet them?

The Roloffs is your normal average family with a tv show aired over Discovery Channel called "Little People Big World".   Yes, as you can see, mom, dad, and big brother Roloff were born with dwarfism; while the rest of the siblings are of normal height.  My husband was the first one hooked on this TV show.  He told me that it 'amazes' him to journey with the Roloffs' a-day-in-the-life joys and challenges in this big world.  As I began to watch the show, I could not help but be inspired.  Their entrepreneurial fire, that's what got me. They apply what others call as the 'long-tail' principle. Or from how I understand it in layman's terms: 'the more , the merrier".  Some call it 'mutliple income streams'.  Here's how they do it:

Matt Roloff, star of "Little People, Big World" demonstrates the stepstool, a piece of the "Assistive Convenience Kit" available beginning July 2007, at Carlson's full and select service branded hotels. (PRNewsFoto/Carlson Hotels Worldwide)

Matt is founder of Direct Access Solutions, a company that provides products that make facilities in hotels more accessible to 'little people'.

They also own and hands-on mange a farm that hold Pumpkin -picking, Peach-picking.  The farm has various amenities perfect for family gatherings and corporate events.

Being a working mom for so many years now, there are times when I wish I was a stay-at-home-mom, especially during my child's growing years.  With the Roloffs, I realized that staying at home does not necessarily mean of not holding a job at all.  In this digital age, we are lucky to have more options.  If multi-tasking is the name of the game, then having multiple income streams is its team buddy.  It may come in the form of active or passive incomes (which could lead to new blog entry :-)).   Entrepreneurship + time freedom +  some time stay at home + passive income sources + part time job + playtime with kids + ... we all have our own versions of equations in life. And just like the Roloffs, we just have to understand and accept the givens, identify what is required, give our best to come up with solutions. Ain't math fun?
